Chuck's police unit totaled, his truck totaled. We now have no way to get out. We're stuck. … There is no way out. We're stuck here, so in retrospect we are begging for help."Schools pose one other issue. "They're pretty much destroyed," Bonnie Hernandez says. "We have no idea of what's gonna happen. Kids continue to say they're going to go to school through next summer. And we don't know."We can't go back to work. We're lucky we have Chuck still working because that is certainly an income, but I work for a legal professional and, from what I understand, his office has experienced about four feet of water also."Hope has already had enough, saying, "I need to get out of here. I don't want to stay."Bonnie admits keeping your family going keeps getting harder."I just keep telling them, padding it, telling them, 'It's likely to be fine. We're gonna have power. We're gonna have water,' however when you look outside, how is it going to rebuild this?"I keep lying, basically, and telling them it's going to be fine." An afternoon of ice fishing turned into a treacherous rescue mission Tuesday that ended with a Coast Guard helicopter saving five people, including two rescuers, who has been thrown into an icy lake. The Coast Guard was called to Metro Beach, about 25 miles north of Detroit, after 18 ice fishermen became trapped while on an ice floe that broke off in Lake St. Clair.CBS News Correspondent Drew Levinson reports the majority of those stranded were rescued, but a Hovercraft boat, carrying two rescuers as well as the last three stranded fishermen, lost power and took place in the lake. High winds turned it over, dumping all onboard within the freezing waters. "My concern would have been to keep the people that we were rescuing included until we got them on ice and that we all bailed out," said rescue worker Steven Greiner. "The Hovercraft just stays higher than the surface; it's not designed to take three-foot seas," Coast Guard Petty Officer David Sapp said. Four citizens were brought to Mount Clemens General Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Sara Brown said. All were treated and released, one on an injured ankle and three for hypothermia. Two more ice fishermen were rescued from an ice floe further north on Lake St. Clair's Anchor Bay. "It's excessively early in the season for this. That is far from safe ice," Harrison Township Fire Capt. Robert Knapp said. The fishermen were with regards to a quarter-mile off the shore of Metro Beach, every time a 500-foot long section of ice broke. By 7:30 p.m., the floe was ready 1.5 miles off shore, Knapp said. Mark Linville was on the ice floe when he heard the ice crack. He was quoted saying he quickly scooped up the two fish he caught and began heading to shore once the ice broke away about 6 feet behind him. Being promoted to the FBI's Ten Most popular list has always been a big deal within law enforcement, but Monday's dual announcement being bigger than most, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.The FBI has put alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and anti-abortion activist James Charles Kopp on its Ten Most Wanted list.Bin Laden is a candidate for the list from the time investigators traced him to the bombing of a U.S. military barracks in Saudi Arabia in 1996. He is also the man the FBI believes is in charge of last year's attack on two U.S. embassies in east Africa. FBI Director Louis Freeh says there's evidence bin Laden is plotting a lot more violence. "The FBI continues to receive a high number of threats from individuals and organizations with ties to bin Laden," he states.Kopp's selection was particularly intriguing. After being charged with gunning down Dr. Barnett Slepian at his home in Buffalo, N.Y. last fall, Kopp now joins Eric Rudolph since the second suspect on the list associated with anti-abortion violence. The findings may affect the way many buildings are made, reports CBS News Health Correspondent Dr. Emily Senay.The authors from the studies in California just weren't doctors, but architectural researchers who study buildings. The study was conducted by an energy consulting firm for the California state Board for Energy Efficiency and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. Hawaii utility's goal was to save on energy costs and see whether sunlight increases human productivity. They were surprised at how strong the correlation was between daylight and productivity.First, they examined student test scores and classrooms at three school districts in California, Colorado, and Washington state. They discovered that students in classrooms with the most daylight did 20 percent better on math tests and 26 percent better on reading tests than students at the same school in classrooms together with the least amount of natural light.In a companion study, the researchers looked at 108 stores that were portion of a large chain. The stores were virtually identical in layout, except that two-thirds of the stores had skylights. They looked at the sales figures for that various stores and determined that the skylight system increased sales by 40 percent.The reports are the first large studies on this kind, and were not produced by doctors or peer-reviewed by other experts. Nevertheless the researchers were careful to manipulate other factors such as how affluent a residential district was or where stores and schools were located. They found out that the association between sunlight and productivity were strong in spite of location.It is not known why daylight might affect human productivity, one possibility is that light applies to melatonin, a brain chemical that can help regulate sleepiness and alertness. Sunlight suppresses melatonin, causing us to more alert and lively. Conversely, too much of the chemical may make people drowsy or depressed.Doctors suspect that melatonin plays a part in the "winter blues," when folks feel more sleepy and depressed in the winter season. His name is Wilbur King then when Hurricane Floyd hit North Carolina last September, his was among the many businesses destroyed by floodwaters. Even before the waters receded, CBS News followed King while he returned to what was left of his family-owned business, a company that had stood for 63 years."I never imagined it may rise so fast," King said during the time of the disaster. "You can laugh or cry, and crying only gets you red eyes as well as a headache. So we just likely to try to take it one step at the same time. And then we just didn't really have a choice, to tell you the truth."Before disaster struck, said King, he'd no idea how many friends he previously. Even his suppliers extended helping hands, telling King only to pay them when he is able. Within 28 days, his business was open again. And also on Thanksgiving, he was likely to serve 600 pounds of turkey.But not everyone in Kinston has been as fortunate as King. Fire chief Greg Smith stated it is difficult to calculate what number of people are displaced. More than 500 homes were afflicted with the Kinston floodwaters, and well over 300 of people families have not been able to return into their homes."The biggest overuse injury in a community our size," explained Smith, "is we do not have substantial housing for all of people. We're making efforts to begin to build structures for the people. Lots of families this day are located in trailer park that's been set up by the state government and by FEMA.
