http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassictall-uk.html The White House and the Democrats think that, even with a surplus of $115 billion in fiscal year 1999, the Republicans are not likely to be able to pass the outstanding budget spending bills without borrowing from Social Security, reports CBS White House Correspondent Bill Plante. This surplus is the largest ever sold, eclipsing last year's $69 billion, reports CBS Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts. President Clinton told reporters Monday he wants lawmakers to use him on next year's budget, to conserve Social Security and strengthen Medicare. Mr. Clinton has asked lawmakers to transmit him all the spending bills without dipping in the Social Security trust fund, though he is well-aware they will likely have to complete just that."The president sent an allowance earlier in the year that achieved the kind of spending that the president wanted and plenty of us wanted without dipping into Social Security funds," said House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, D-MO, Sunday on CBS News' Face the united states . "They chose not to follow that budget and passed their own budget. Now they're probably edging toward $30 billion of social security funds being spent."House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-IL, also interviewed on Face the Nation , still insists that Congress can spend the passage of bills without having done any that. "We've had things come down the road that we didn't consider, but I think we can pass our bills and not dip into the Social Security trust fund," he stated. But even many Republicans do not think that's possible. Both sides are attempting very hard to appear reasonable while playing what exactly is essentially a game of hardball politics. The president will probably veto some of those spending bills, however with the fiscal year ending Thursday, both sides are under pressure not to allow another government shutdown.
ugg boots short A six-year-old grudge over a debate in the Senate over slavery and the Confederacy may blocking President Clinton's choice from becoming the following U.S. ambassador to Nz.CBS News Capitol Hill Correspondent Bob Fuss reports Senate Foreign Relations chairman Jesse Helms (R-NC) said in a statement Monday there is an "ethical cloud" hanging over Mosley-Braun and suggests the government of New Zealand doesn't really want her to get the job. However, he said he could allow hearings to be held. She was nominated by President Clinton Oct. 8.In 1993, Moseley-Braun, then the Democratic senator from Illinois, led the fight against renewing a design patent to the United Daughters of the Confederacy that used the Confederate flag as its emblem. Helms had sponsored the measure. It absolutely was a routine request, every 14 years, since 1898.Moseley-Braun is black, and felt the Confederate flag was the symbol of slavery. The patent renewal did not pass."I don't think she [should] hold her breath until she becomes an ambassador," Helms told the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call . "She better search for another line of work."Former Senators usually have a fairly easy time being confirmed by their colleagues. The White House says it assumes Senator Jesse Helms will "repudiate" the reported threat to bar the ambassadorial nomination, reports CBS News Correspondent Peter Maer. Spokesman Barry Toiv said, "It's challenging to believe that he [Helms] would hold up a nomination over a personal grudge."A couple weeks after the United Daughters from the Confederacy vote, Moseley-Braun said in a speech for the National Urban League that they had recently shared a Capitol elevator ride with Helms."He saw me standing there, and that he started to sing, 'I wish I became in the land of cotton.' And that he looked at Senator Hatch and said, 'I'm going to make her cry. I'm going to sing Dixie until she cries,'" reported The Washington Post 's account in the speech. "And I looked at him and said, 'Senator Helms, your singing can make me cry if you sang 'Rock of Ages.'"Moseley-Braun could not be reached for comment Friday. Helms told Roll Call Moseley-Braun must make amends. "At a very minimum she has got to apologize to the display that she provoked over a little symbol for a wonderful band of little old ladies," Helms said.©1999, CBS Worldwide Inc., All Rights Reserved
www.ahlborn-kirchenorgeln.com/uggspascher.html Duane Grigg was sitting in front of his television in North Carolina Thursday afternoon watching the controversy over Florida's electoral votes unfold. By midnight, he was looking into a Palm Beach hotel to view the historic moment firsthand."I know without the question that it was history within the making," the 32-year-old manufacturing employee from Charlotte said as he slung his gym bag over his shoulder and headed to his college accommodation Thursday. "And I felt Palm Beach County was the epicenter of this history."Grigg joined a minor multitude which has converged on this southeast Florida coastal city.CBS News Correspondent Bobbi Harley reports that throngs of protesters are claiming the ballot in Palm Beach was unclear, if not illegal. One voter, Ron Lichman, said the "statute section 101 in the Florida voting method indicates that the punch holes or check marks" on a ballot "should be on the right side" - not on both sides as it was in Palm Beach. But GOP officials within the state are saying both parties approved the ballot prior to the election. But that is not stopping protesters from demanding a re-vote.Crowds of mostly Gore supporters began gathering before noon Thursday with the Palm Beach County Governmental Center, the location where the Rev. Jesse Jackson led a rally demanding a fresh election in the county. Within the low-slung concrete building, an embattled county canvassing board was wanting to decide how to respond to complaints that some 19,000 ballots were trashed because more than one presidential candidate was selected. The streets beyond your government building had mid-air of a carnival, with hot-dog vendors vying with up to 1,000 sign-carrying protesters for space. By midnight, only a few dozen remained. Doris Church, who turns 82 on Friday, sat within a wheelchair with an oxygen tube in their own nose, chewing on ice chips to ward off the heat. Her granddaughter, Tracy Hill, held an indication that read: "My grandmother needs a revote." Church, who has a master's degree and taught senior high school and college, said she realized after voting that they had messed up her ballot. "I'm not really a dummy," she said, gasping for breath. "I lack my body, but I have my brains." Later at night, down the highway in Riviera Beach, Jackson held sway with the New Macedonia Baptist Church, leading hundreds inside a gathering that was part prayer revival, part pep rally. The red-cushioned pews were filled, each aisle of the small stucco church was lined with folding chairs. Jackson, standing before a blue-tiled baptismal trough, invoked the spirits of numerous who died fighting for civil rights. "For way too long, we marched and bled for the right to vote," Jackson roared. "The same those who fought for it and died for this are begging for it to be applied."

"These transplants are done on well patients, nothing like the transplants of a heart, liver, or a kidney," said Doctor Earl Owen, director for the Center for Microsurgery in Sydney, Australia.
